About the Author

 

Ken Lake grew up on a Southeast Ohio Beef Cow/Calf and Sheep farm.  He entered Agri-business in 1973 as a feed service and sales representative.  He later managed the local Co-op feed and farm supply branch in his hometown of Zanesville, Ohio.  He managed Grain Operations in Tiffin and Shelby, Ohio before moving to Michigan in 1989.  He has spent his entire 40 year working career in Agribusiness.  Presently his position is Origination Services Coordinator for Michigan Agriculture Commodities at their Blissfield, Mi. plant.  Ken has experience in aiding farmers and elevator managers in developing risk management strategies in corn, soybeans, wheat, cattle and hogs.  Working with local farmers and businessmen he served on the project development team for the Riga Twp Ethanol plant now operated by Green Plains Renewable Energy and served as Vice Chairman of Great Lakes Ethanol.  He is past ex-officio member of the Michigan Corn Marketing Program and currently serves on the Lenawee County Ag Economic Development and Land Use Commission.
